Shawangunk
Bryant and I drove out to the Hudson Valley Wine Country... only about 1 1/2 hours outside the city... and visited a few vineyards along the Shawangunk Wine Trail (who knew?).
Brotherhood Winery
Whitecliff Vineyards and Winery
...and Adair Vineyards and Winery
On the way back to NYC, we took the scenic road: Route 9W. It follows the Hudson River all the way home.

Ear Infection
Ida has had an ear infection this week...
main symptom = not lifting infected ear when we say things like "wanna go on a walk" or "wanna biscuit"--- thus resulting in "lop-sided interested ears" and a sizeable ear length difference.

Fishs Eddy
I have a lot of "this is my favorite" places in NYC... but I can honestly say that Fishs Eddy is my favorite store in Manhattan. My mom and I used to visit every time we touristed NY. When I first moved to the city, I worked at FE as a "sales associate" and it was the best job ever! I am now well trained in some serious packing skills!
So what is Fishs Eddy? They are Purveyors of SturdyWear... aka a plate store. But this is what makes them stand out... They sell dishware from hotels, diners, restaurants etc... all with original logos and for as low at 50 cents a piece! These overstock plates can be quite the find--- i have a set of 'Joe T Garcias' plates and, on our last visit, mom found plates with a friends monogram on them!
Not only do they sell overstock items, they also have their own patterns... all very funky and original. Click on the names below to see some of my favorite patterns:
The store has expanded quite a bit since I worked there--- they now sell flatware, wine decanters, spatulas, cookie cutters, and cookbooks in addition to their original plates and glassware. And speaking of glassware, the glassware wall is quite a happy place. FE sells all types of juice glasses, Bernstein's, pilsners, whiskey glasses, wine glasses, margarita glasses, martini glasses, etc. It is all about the mix and match!
Anyone who has visited NYC and missed out on Fishs Eddy, this needs to be an 'absolute must' for your next visit. It is a happy place to be!
Most commonly asked question to a sales associate: Where did you get the name "Fishs Eddy"??? The answer: Our name, Fishs Eddy, is respectfully borrowed from a small hamlet upstate New York.

Riverside
We love Riverside Drive. Great walks, great views of the Hudson, great dog parks, great old mansions, great fall trees!

SNL sketch of the week!
Overall, I must admit, that SNL was not up to par... I love Michael Phelps, but the athlete hosts always struggle quite a bit (aside from Peyton Manning).
SKETCH OF THE WEEK (rarely does this award go to the opening sketch):
I also would like to introduce Bobby Moynihan... the only new SNL cast member of the season. He really held his own and introduced a new character, Mark Payne.
Final notes on the show:
Andy Samburg's "Space Olympics"--- I was not impressed at first, but I can't get some of the lines out of my head at work. "Space Swords, totally canceled" it's worth a view
Weekend Update is always better when Nicholas Fehn visits!

VIVA MEHIKO!
I recently had the pleasure of spending 10 days in Puerto Vallarta. The first 5 days was a girls trip made up of Angela and her roommates from aTm-- Shelly, Meghan, and Rachel. We stayed in the most amazing house that overlooked the ocean. We spent our time laying out, catching up, cooking, and eating everything cooked. I also think there was some massages, tennis, and hammocking in the mix. We ventured away from our abode one day... "TO THE TWEES"!!! Yes, we did a canopy, zipline tour in a nearby willage.
The day the girls left, Bryant made his way down from NYC. We went to the other side of downtown and spent another 5 days on the beach. The hotel was so nice (a Leigh Edgar recommendation) and we stayed by the pool as long as the sun was out... and sometimes longer.
We had a great snorkeling trip out to a place called "Los Arcos"--- a national fish reserve. There were so many fish just ready to hang out with you!
Bryant got a little toasty on day two... even with that spf 30! I guess the buildings of NYC do block out most of the light!
